"Goode" Inventions, Good Intensions: The Inventions of Sarah Goode and Miriam Benjamin

Children will hear the story, Sweet Dreams, Sarah, about Sarah Goode, one of the first African American women to be awarded a U.S. patent, for her combination bed/desk. They will also learn about Miriam Benjamin, who invented the "gong and signal chair," the precursor to the call buttons on airplanes.
