"Goode" Inventions, Good Intensions: The Inventions of Sarah Goode and Miriam Benjamin

A Hands-On History S.T.E.A.M. Program!

Aug. 10, 17, 24 at 11 am 

$4 per child

Also available for groups of 10-20 by reservation

Children will hear the story, Sweet Dreams, Sarah, about Sarah Goode, one of the first African American women to be awarded a U.S. patent, for her combination bed/desk. They will also learn about Miriam Benjamin, who invented the "gong and signal chair," the precursor to the call buttons on airplanes. Children will also have fun inventing items that help make life easier at home, school or the workplace.  Call 301-3777817 to register. Deadline is two days before the program date.
