Riverdale, MD - Summer break may be ending, but opportunities to learn as a family aren’t! We’re inviting family members of all ages to come out and learn about the arts, history, local culture, and yourselves at one of our many free events this September.
WHAT: Potties, Privies and Practical Matters Exhibit: 18th Century Hygiene
WHEN: Sunday, September 3, from 12 PM – 4 PM

Have you ever wondered how people bathed 250 years ago? Have you ever thought about how, or if, people brushed their teeth back then? What type of undergarments did they wear? This exhibit will answer all of your questions and then some!
WHAT: Waterfront Art Festival
WHEN: Saturday, September 9, from 12 PM – 6 PM

Whether you're an avid practitioner of the Arts or have an inkling of interest - this festival is something you don't want to miss! The festival will showcase the talent and work of local artists, from painting to sculptures, glasswork to jewelry, photography and more! Demonstrations and workshops will delight and inspire all audiences. We will also have food trucks, live music and performances, and river boat tours!
WHAT: Grandparents' Day Tours

Grandparents played an integral role in the history of Riversdale. George Calvert was the grandson of Charles Calvert, the Fifth Lord Baltimore and a descendant of Maryland’s founding family. His wife, Rosalie Stier Calvert, fled with her family from Belgium during the French Revolution. When her parents returned to Europe in 1803, Mrs. Calvert found ways to keep the memory of them alive for her children. Riversdale invites you to make your own memories with your grandparents during you tour.
WHAT: Health: Learning About Yourself

The aim of this program is to create safe and shared community spaces. These sessions will use artistic expression, healthy eating demonstrations, recreation and physical activities as vehicles to help raise awareness of the importance of balance nutrition and incorporating healthy habits. This program is sponsored by La Clinica Del Pueblo.

Over 12,000 people celebrate the rich heritage of our Hispanic communities every year! Your free admission to the Hispanic Festival gives you access to a variety of activities – including carnival games, crafts, entertainment, delicious ethnic food, children activities, exhibitors and more. Patrons can also enjoy free transportation to the festival.
WHAT: Insomnia: Midnight Madness

Are you up for an overnight character-and-skill-building challenge? This all-night program provides a platform to provoke positive change in our young men through men through S.T.E.A.M. activities and dynamic workshops. Highlighted activities include robotics, chess, coding, home economics, basketball, S.T.E.A.M. projects and more! Parents, we didn't forget about you!! We have a workshop designed with you in mind entitled, "Not My Son: Learning How To Keep Your Son Safe." Food and snacks will be available for the program's duration.

Riversdale House Museum is joining museums across the country to open its doors FREE during the 13th annual Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live! on Saturday, September 23 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
