Holiday Happenings: 
Celebrate the Best of the Season with Fun for All Ages

 

Riverdale, MD – We’ve rounded up the best of the best from the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, that will help make the season bright!

WHAT: 32nd Annual Winter Festival of Lights

WHEN: Friday, November 23, 2018 - Tuesday, January 1, 2019, daily from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

WHERE: Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Drive Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772

COST: Admission fees based on vehicle type.

The Winter Festival of Lights gets better every year, with more lights, displays, and entertainment. This year’s spectacular drive-through event features dazzling displays with more than 2.5 million LED lights throughout the park and a giant, 54-foot LED musical tree! Every year it proves to be a festive tradition for friends and family of all ages. Please bring a canned good to donate to local food banks.

WHAT: Santa Fly-In

WHEN: Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 12 PM – 4 PM

WHERE: College Park Aviation Museum, 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive, College Park, MD 20740

COST: $5 includes museum admission

Watch Santa fly into historic College Park Airport with some help from a local pilot! After arriving, Santa will stroll into the museum’s Main Gallery where visitors may have their picture taken with him. Holiday arts and crafts will be available for adults and children throughout the museum, including a card making station. 

WHAT: Three Kings Day Celebration

WHEN: Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 10 AM – 1 PM

WHERE: College Park Community Center, 5051 Pierce Avenue, College Park, MD 20740

COST: FREE! (Only 2 adults with child(ren) per family will be allowed)

Celebrate the Hispanic tradition of the Three Kings Day celebration. Enjoy music, refreshments, and more. Children ages 10 and younger will receive a gift from the Three Kings. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. Call 301-408-4321 to register. Your child must be registered by Friday, December 28, 2018, to receive a free gift.

WHAT: Deck the Hall Senior Holiday Celebration

WHEN: Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 1 PM – 4 PM

WHERE: Southern Regional Technology & Recreation, 7007 Bock Road Fort Washington, MD 20744

AUDIENCE: Ages 55 & better

COST: Resident Cost: $5/ Non-Resident Cost: $6

 Join us for a fun afternoon of holiday cheer. Enjoy music, food, vendors, holiday crafts, and live entertainment.

WHAT: Soiree at the Snowdens’

WHEN: Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 5 PM – 8 PM
WHERE: Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel, MD 20708

AUDIENCE: 21 & older

COST: $25/members of Friends of Montpelier; $35/non-members

Join us for our third annual holiday celebration, featuring live music, and dinner fare donated by local restaurants. Sponsored in part by the Friends of Montpelier.

WHAT: Winter Wonderland

WHEN: Friday, December 21, 2018, from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
WHERE: Kentland Community Center, 2413 Pinebrook Avenue, Landover, MD 20785

COST: FREE

Santa Claus is coming to town and he is making stops at M-NCPPC sites all over the County! Come see Santa and his little helpers.
