Maryland-National Capital Park Police Host Search and Rescue Training Drill
at Watkins Regional Park
RIVERDALE, MD - On Saturday, November 3, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division is hosting a Search and Rescue training exercise (SAREX) on behalf of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), Police Chiefs, and Search Operations Subcommittees. The exercise will give law enforcement and civilian SAR teams in the region an opportunity to work through continuous operational periods while integrating search managers and search teams from multiple agencies and jurisdictions. The SAREX will include Search Managers, ground searchers, K9, and Mounted assets.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police Prince George’s County Division was established in 1954 and is tasked with protecting close to 30,000 acres of park property within the county. The Park Police is a full-service police agency accredited through the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The mission of the Park Police Department is to provide professional park police services to M-NCPPC in partnership with the community and other M-NCPPC staff in order to provide a safe and secure environment, protect life and property, and identify and apprehend violators.
