Want to enjoy the hottest area bands and exciting professional theatre, but don’t want to squander the summer weather? We’ve got the solution with our summer-long series of free performances held at Fairwood Community Park!
Joi Carter, also known simply as JC, is a Baltimore native with a fiery sound and an engagingly spunky stage performance indicative of her love for 80's music and growing up in a household filled with the sounds of soca, funk, and rock. As a former member of the Washington, D.C.-based Go-Go band "Mambo Sauce," she has performed at some of the best live music venues in the United States including the House of Blues, the 9:30 Club, Fox Theatre, and The Kennedy Center, along with local venues such as Jammin Java, State Theatre, and Rams Head Live.
Howard University Alumna Geneva Renée, whose vocal range spans three octaves, produces a sound heavily influenced by classical, jazz, Latin, soul, gospel, pop and theater. Over the years, she has been afforded the opportunity to perform at numerous local and national venues and shared the stage with many stars including Diana Ross, Maysa Leak, Vanessa Williams, and Darius Rucker. Geneva has performed across the DMV in legendary venues such as Blues Alley, the Carter Barron, the Kennedy Center, and the Howard Theatre. She recently performed as a featured guest at the Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Rehoboth Beach and Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festivals.
